curated by 2024

As the sixteenth edition of Curated by approaches, we're excited to present this year’s participating galleries and Noit Bana's impulse essay.

All 24 galleries are preparing the exhibitions and the extensive program that will once again turn Vienna into a vibrant place for contemporary art from September 13! This year, Curated by will look deeper into the social practices of storytelling and explore a critical institution for shaping memory: the archive.

Opening Days: 13.&14.9.2024
Festival: 17.9.–19.10.2024

Untold Narratives

“Countless narratives are being shared from archives far and wide, yet it is ever more difficult to hear or assimilate them, let alone contextualize, analyse, or historicize them.”

- Noit Banai

Curated by is pleased to announce that this year's impulse essay, framing our democratically chosen theme, was written by Noit Banai.

About Curated by

In its sixteen years of existence, the gallery festival Curated by has developed into a central and indispensable event for contemporary art in Vienna, which - supported by selected Vienna-based galleries - has become an international showcase for the city. The focus on content through the annual theme, the international orientation through the choice of curators and artists, the unusual format as a festival, and the collaborative shoulder-to-shoulder approach of the galleries make Curated by a unique contemporary art project with international reach.
